Week 3 - Underworld Deity finds a friend...

So here we have all of the concept art from last week posted.

So for this week, story writers are preparing new, complete animatics that build on Hannah's concept of Death. A lonely underworld figure that desperately wants to make a friend with a soul before it reaches the world of the dead.

Concept artists will be developing pose/turnaround images of our Death character. Color studies and environment/prop designs should be started at this point as well. Modelers are taking a first stab at the 3D character, based off of the first approved concept image.

This week we'll be moving on to developing secondary characters. Jason would also like to a departure from traditional 3D rendering styles for our project. I am enthusiastic as well about incorporating more of a stylized 2D approach...

Week 2 - Still Concepting...

So we've narrowed things down to an Underworld character or Genie-like character and next week, the writers will pitch their refined concept to the entire class... with either a rough animatic or set of loose storyboards.

I'm feeling pretty good that stick-figures are acceptable for this, as I will be giving it a try.

Week 1 - Concepts & Pitches

I'm starting this blog to chronicle the progress of our team: MA315-A Animation Preproduction. I'd like to use this blog as a process book of sorts. In addition I'd like this to be a platform for feedback and encouragement on ideas and assignments. If you're on the team and have something you want posted: images and/or content, please send that in an email.

So at this stage, we're connecting a character that is a deity that wants to shed its preternatural prowess and responsibility. But the opportunity remains open for the inept hit-man story concept, provided writers come up with the required 10 pitches for the deity character first.

I am honestly excited by either prospect, and I plan on writing at least 10 pitches myself. But, a "god" character who wants to relinquish a power (or set of powers) that are related to their physicality directly, stands to be a strong story visually.
